The American Style Bronze Teacher Training is perfect for anyone motivated in becoming a dance teacher. This program is taking teacher trainees through the entire DVIDA Bronze American Style Rhythm syllabus. This class has no prerequisites; it is open to dancers of any level. No prior dance experience is required!

It is ideal for anyone considering a career as dance teacher, or someone that would like to improve their own dancing skills to become an assistant.
Teach Latin Dance

Founded in 1986, DC Dance Club is Calgary’s Premiere Ballroom and Latin Dance Club.

We offer private dance lessons and group dance lessons in Calgary for all ages, adults, youth, from beginner to advanced, for social or competitive dance. If you are an absolute beginner dancer looking to learn your first step, the bride and groom looking to shine on your special day, DC Dance Club is “The Dance Studio” for you.

Ballroom and Latin dance lessons at DC Dance Club are fun, and great for fitness or special occasions such as Weddings, Cruises or night on the town. Our teachers are highly qualified with many years of competitive and social dance experience in both International Style Standard and Latin as well as American Style Smooth and Rhythm. At DC we’re capable of teaching anyone, at any level, to dance for all occasions.

The technical expertise will prepare you one step closer to preparing you for your certification exam and bring your dancing level to an entirely new level.

When you complete one of the DC Dance Teacher Training programs you will receive a certificate of completion from DC Dance Club. The certificate of completion is different from professional certification. This is a valuable accomplishment, and it will serve as a credential for your dance resume including being an asset to your career. The certificate you will receive when you pass your certification exam will able you to attract new students and earn more for your services.

The process of preparing for your certification exam will teach you dance concepts you may not have fully understood, you will improve both your verbal and presentation skills. You will learn the vocabulary for describing the technical elements of dance figures, and you will improve your knowledge of proper alignments.

The advantage of certifying with DVIDA is that you can take your professional certification exams “one dance at a time”. For example, the Bronze American Style Latin certification includes four dances; Rumba, Cha-Cha, E/C Swing, Bolero. With DVIDA’s exams you have the option of testing in each dance separately, one at a time. This makes the preparation much easier; you can learn the material more thoroughly. After successfully completing each dance exam, you receive a “Certification of completion” for that dance.

Attendance; This course is designed to develop dance teachers, therefore a lot of material will be covered at a fairly fast pace, missing too many classes is not advised, as you can easily fall behind. If you do miss a class you can generally arrange to work with one of the other teacher trainees to help you catch up. You can also schedule a private lesson (for an additional private lesson fee) to make up any work you miss. Becoming a dance teacher takes time, commitment and dedication. Shoes: All teacher trainees will be expected to have proper dance shoes. You can purchase dance shoes from DC Dance Club or any dance shoe retailer.

- It’s essential that trainees attend two Saturday night socials per month while helping with assisting, dancing and overall getting to know the students.

The amount of practice will vary from person to person. Please expect to commit at least 1-2 hours of practice time for every hour you spend in class.

Cost: $1,970.00 + GST

Deposit of $700 + GST (non-refundable) is required to insure your position in a class.

Any missed classes CANNOT be made up in another time slot. Classes are also non-transferable.
