Would you like your son or daughter to learn how to treat others with respect, possess good manners and poise? The ballroom dance class for youth style is growing in popularity among today’s youth, due to the highly televised dance shows such Dancing with The Stars and So You Think You Can Dance.

Kids Dancing positively impacts children’s lives in multiple ways. By participating in dance classes, your child will gain muscle strength and flexibility, improve their balance, agility and coordination, develop proper posture. Youth Dance classes even prepare children for school, as one of the first things small dancers learn is to “focus and pay attention to the teacher.” By studying dance your child will also learn teamwork, develop self-esteem and the joy of using their imagination and creativity.

For our younger kids’ dance classes, we explore creative movement as it relates to music, dancing, and life as well as introducing the basics of Youth Ballroom, Latin, and Swing.
Our unique program for youngsters is designed to encourage a lifelong appreciation for dance, social interaction and a focus on fitness. Our mission is to help children and teenagers to achieve their potential through dance and cultivate in them a love and appreciation for dance to last a lifetime.

You’re Never Too Young to Start Dancing!

We are so excited to present our Kid’s Ballroom program to you, including group classes, private lessons, and competition opportunities for the kids who want to take their dancing to the top! Just like our adult programs, we support all skill levels, from complete beginner to seasoned dancer. Our instructors will work with you and your child to create the perfect dance education to help them develop healthy exercise habits, learn the fundamentals of many historic and modern ballroom dance styles, and improve their creativity and confidence!

Baby Ballroom & Me

Little ones often showcase their first dance moves—swaying, bouncing and clapping—before they take their first steps. As they grow, many kids show an interest in further exploring dance, whether it's ballet, jazz, or ballroom.

This class is for 1 year old and 2 year old dancers and "Toddler Ballroom & Me" is for 2 year old and 3 year old dancers. The class is structured for the dancers to explore movement and music concepts while gaining balance, flexibility, and coordination together.

Toddlers and Kids Dance Classes

This Teddy Bear dance class is for dancers who are 4 - 5 year olds. The class is structured to inspire a love of dance and music while gaining balance, flexibility and coordination. These dancers will have the opportunity to perform in the showcases that DC Dance Club produces in Winter and Spring.

Tiny Tots Dance
Ages 3-5
Novice

Music and movement is genre designed especially for our little dancers! It introduces music and the idea of moving to that rhythmic beat. Ages 3 to 5 years will receive an introduction to the dancing world and get a chance to put what seems to be endless energy into a fun lesson of dance. Come join the fun!

Ballroom Youth
Ages 5-8
Novice

This is a 12-week course. Bring out the magic in your child! Here your little lady or little man will be introduced to foundational partner dances like the Waltz, Cha-Cha, and Rumba, learning basic steps, rhythm, and coordination in a fun and encouraging environment.

Ballroom Youth
Ages 5-8 Intermediate

Bring out the magic in your child! Here your little lady or little man will be expanding their dancing foundation with more advanced patterns and technique. This session will include a mixture of Ballroom, Latin, with more emphasis on musicality, footwork and partnering.

Novice

This is a 12 week course. Expand your dancing foundation with more advanced patterns and technique. This session will include Waltz, Cha-Cha, and Jive with more emphasis on musicality, footwork and partnering.

This is a 12 week course where you can enjoy the fun and magic of dancing in this introductory course including; Waltz, Cha-Cha, and Jive. Learn the basic steps and principles of dances that will be useful for a lifetime.

Expand your dancing foundation with more advanced patterns and technique. This session will include Waltz, Cha-Cha, and Jive with more emphasis on musicality, footwork and partnering.

Ballroom and Latin Foundation

DC Dance Club, in partnership with the Butterfly Kisses Foundation—established in honor of June and Vern Larson and Bob McNaught—comes together to make a difference. Thanks to the generosity of our members, we raise funds to provide free dance classes for children in vulnerable situations.

Ballroom, Latin, and Social Dance

This class is for Pre-Teens and Teens from 10 years old through to 17 years old. The class is focused on techniques American Latin and Ballroom. The class will be structured with a warm up, solo work and partner work. Main focus will be on the footwork, quality of movement, performance, and musicality. These dancers will have the opportunity to perform in the showcases DC Dance Club produces in Winter and Spring.
